HOUSE COMMITTEE PASSES STATEWIDE SMOKING BAN
A Minnesota House committee passed a comprehensive smoke ban
measure today, moving the state one step closer to a full ban on
smoking in all bars and restaurants.
All attempts to change the bill failed. The proposed changes
ranged from banning cigarettes in Minnesota to allowing smoking
in bars that have ventilation systems.
After more than two hours of debate and testimony, the measure
passed 12-6. Several other House committees would still have to
pass it before it would move on to a full floor vote.
An identical Senate measure has yet to begin its journey through
committees.
