Dovetailing on Kane County's proposed smoking ban, the county
health department is rolling out a secondhand smoking education
campaign that includes four town hall-style meetings in
February.
The campaign's title, Clear the Smoke, is meant to be taken
literally and figuratively, said Michael Isaacson, the county's
emergency response coordinator.
Figuratively, it is meant to address smoking myths such as
smoking bans result in decreased business at bars and
restaurants. Statistics show that's not the case, said Isaacson,
who unveiled the campaign at the county board's public health
committee meeting Friday.
