Teen Smoking/Youth
With the intent of exposing the perceived lies of tobacco companies, FACT members from Rhinelander High School (RHS) sponsored an exhibit at the Rouman Cinema Wednesday night, encouraging youth to join the movement against the industry.
Touting the slogan “Even the blindfolded can see, Big Tobacco lies,” RHS students aggressively recruited youth aged 12 to 18 to their booth, where they distributed fliers, pins, magnets, and scarves advertising the FACT movement for the first time at the theater. Participants who joined were entered into a drawing, where they had the opportunity to win a $5 Rouman Cinema certificate.
“We're trying to get teens to understand the consequences that can happen once you start smoking and the health effects and we're trying to get them not even to try it,” RHS FACT member Michelle Mays said.
