WHERE CAN YOU SMOKE?
Ridgeland city leaders are considering adopting an ordinance that
would eliminate smoking in all work and public places, including
enclosed restaurants and bars.
"We have been discussing it for some time," said Ridgeland Mayor
Gene McGee, "and we had some folks in the community who requested
it. We do think it is a very wise thing to do."
Board members distributed a draft of the ordinance at their last
meeting.
In a letter to board members, city attorney James Gabriel told
the board that the draft is a combination of a model ordinance
prepared by the Americans for Non-Smoker's Rights. He said the
cities of Oxford, Hattiesburg and Tupelo have adopted similar
ordianances.
